Poll: 75% Support House and Senate Term Limits

Voters re-elected most of the incumbent members of the US House and Senate in November.

Even so, a new Gallup poll released Friday found three-quarters of Americans say they support term limits for elected officials in both chambers.

If given the opportunity, 75 percent would vote for term limits and 21 percent would vote against them.

Five percent said they have no opinion.

The survey also shows that more than six in 10 Americans would get rid of the Electoral College, the constitutional structure for electing presidents.

The poll is based on phone interviews with more than a thousand people. The sampling error is plus or minus four percentage points.
