Animal Planet to Investigate Bigfoot Claims in Arkansas

The Animal Planet is investigating legendary claims of a Bigfoot-like creature in Southwest Arkansas.

The television channel has a crew in Fouke (Miller County) this week.

For decades, if not longer, there have been reports of a creature that roams woods in the area.

Last night the TV crew had a meet-and-greet with the public so they could share what they've found during their investigation.

Mayor Terry Purvis says while he hasn't seen Bigfoot, he believes there could be something to the legend.

"The Animal Planet does have pictures of something out in the woods, I've looked at them, it's very intriguing. And I'm gonna tell you, you look at them and it's like, whoa," he says.

It's unknown exactly how many sightings of Bigfoot there have been in Fouke over the years, especially because many are afraid to share their stories.

Mayor Purvis hopes they'll come forward because they may have some new information that could be helpful in the hunt.
