UA Safe Ride Program Receives Grant

By: Lisa Mendenhall
Updated: January 30, 2013

A University of Arkansas program that promotes alcohol safety is getting a boost from a local beer distributor.

McBride Distributing Company, which distributes Anheuser-Busch products in Northwest Arkansas, gave $7,500 to the UA Associated Student Government Tuesday to support the Safe Ride program.

It's the second year the company has given money to the program.

Students can call Safe Ride for a lift home from anywhere within Fayetteville city limits if they've had too much to drink, or even just need a ride.

The donation will help Safe Ride expand with new cars.
