Siloam Springs will honor alumnus and former basketball star Dr. Willa Faye Mason during half-time of Tuesday night's varsity game against Rogers.

Dr. Mason was a member of the first women's professional basketball team in the country, the "All-American Red Heads."

Mason was recently inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, MA for her time with the Red Heads.

According to her team bio, Dr. "Red" Mason was an Arkansas All-State High School player in 1946 and '47.

At the time, the game was played under 3-on-3, half-court rules.

Mason was scouted by Red Heads owner C.M. Olson. She made the team thanks to her basketball ability and love for the game.

Mason played seven seasons with the Red Heads and was a player/coach for two seasons.

After her time as a Red Head, Mason went into education, teaching health and P.E.

She would eventually earn a Doctorate degree from the University of Arkansas in 1979.

In September 2012, the All American Red Heads became the first women's team ever inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
