UpStream Art -- Now Accepting Artists for 2013!

By: KNWA News, Lauren Johnston
Updated: February 13, 2013
UpStream Art recently announced that the cities of Fayetteville, Bentonville, Rogers, and Springdale have joined together to bring an exciting program to Northwest Arkansas.

UpStream Art is a new project that will give local artists the opportunity to express themselves with a semi-permanent public art mural on an outdoor storm drain!

Why do storm drains need a face-lift? UpStream's webpage gives the answer:

"Many residents have a misconception that the storm drains are part of our sanitary sewer system that lead to the wastewater treatment plant. With this misconception...pollutants are disposed of via storm drains, [and] they end up in our waterways."

This event is patterned off of the successful Storm Drain Reveal in Springfield, Missouri.
