"A lot of individuals that you would have never thought that are involved in this or have this kind of a background do," Lt. Derek Hudson with Springdale Police said.
Specialized detectives are working tirelessly to keep cyber criminals away from kids.
"We have detectives that are dedicated to doing nothing but investigating these types of crimes."
To them, social media isn't just for catching up with friends but catching predators.
"That's the thing we have a lot of issues with information on Facebook, things that are exchanged whether it's pictures, personal information, threats that are being made," Hudson said.
Lt. Hudson said the most important thing they do is take preventative measures, like keeping the public informed.
"Our individuals that are involved in cyber crimes [division] often go out to PTA meetings, they go to schools, and whether it's teaching the children or sometimes teaching the adults to teach their children what to do to be safe out there in the internet. These are the things we're trying to do if we can stop it on the front end."
Protecting children, so a click of a mouse doesn't become something more.
