Tyson Chief Resigns from U of A Board of Trustees

By: Julia Dodson
Updated: February 18, 2013
Tyson Foods chairman is no longer a board of trustees member at the University of Arkansas. The reason-- apparent problems with scheduling, among other things. In a letter addressed to Governor Mike Beebe, dated February 5th, John Tyson wrote that he had become-quote-"increasingly frustrated with the board's inability to make meaningful change in the structure and delivery of higher education in Arkansas." Tyson went on to say that his schedule makes it increasingly difficult to be an effective board member. Tyson's resignation went into effect February 8th, just halfway through a ten-year term on the board of the state's flagship university. The U of A is not commenting about Tyson's statement.
