Sequester Impact to be Felt in Arkansas

By: Julia Dodson
Updated: February 25, 2013

The countdown to the sequester on Capitol Hill is on and if lawmakers can't make a deal by March 1st, we're in trouble. Here in Arkansas, if a deal isn't made by the end of the week, the Natural State could lose $5.9 million in funding for primary and secondary education putting dozens of teaching jobs at risk.

Arkansas will also lose about $159,000 in grants that support law enforcement, prosecution, and crime prevention. In the FAA's case, the cuts mean $600 million slashed from its budget, and fewer operating air traffic control towers, meaning possible flight delays across the country.
