Poll: 71% of Americans Want Minimum Wage Raised to $9

Giving minimum wage a raise?

The president first mentioned it in his State of the Union Address, and now it looks like America wants to make it a reality.

According to a new poll by the Pew Research Center and USA Today, 71 percent of Americans support raising the wage from $7.25 per hour to $9.00.

And it seems even those typically opposed to Obama's ideas are on board.

The poll shows that roughly half of republicans agree with a minimum wage increase, but those against the plan say increased wages could hurt businesses and result in fewer jobs.
