McDaniel says every year about 10-million Americans sign up for r-a-ls in an attempt to get their refunds quicker. R-a-ls are short-term loans backed by pending federal tax refunds, but they carry extremely high interest rates. In 2005, consumers paid 960-million dollars in r-a-l fees. McDaniel recommends Arkansans wait for their refund and get all the money they`re entitled to without paying to get it early.
