Man Sues University of Arkansas Over E-mail Scandal

By: Matt Turner
Updated: April 25, 2007
John David Terry of Montgomery County has filed a lawsuit in the Circuit Court of Washington County against University of Arkansas Chancellor Dr. John White and University President B. Allen Sugg.
Terry alleges that White and Sugg did not properly investigate an email scandal which was caused when Teresa Prewett of Little Rock communicated with former Arkansas quarterback Mitch Mustain and Wally Hall, the sports editor of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. One of the emails sent to Mustain, berated the athlete and asked him to leave the university.
Terry's attorney,  Eddie Christian Jr., states that the plaintiff is a taxpayer who bears the financial burden of paying the salaries for Sugg and White, along with public employees who are under their supervision and control. The plaintiff claims at least one of those employees has failed to carry out their lawful duties as required by their contracts of employment and as required by their fiduciary obligations as public officers and employees of the state. Tonight, KNWAs Meghan Dill will have the latest on this developing story.
