(Little Rock, AR) Governor Mike Beebe has amended his recent proclamation, declaring a state of emergency in an additional four counties that suffered crop damage in early April due to record-low temperatures.
The latest declared counties are Garland, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Perry Counties. More counties may continue to be added to the list as additional damage assessments are submitted.
This proclamation brings the total number of declared counties to 52. The previously-declared counties are Arkansas, Benton, Boone, Bradley, Carroll, Clark, Clay, Cleburne, Cleveland, Conway, Craighead, Crawford, Crittenden, Cross, Faulkner, Fulton, Franklin, Greene, Hot Spring, Independence, Izard, Jackson, Johnson, Lafayette, Lawrence, Lee, Logan, Lonoke, Madison, Marion, Mississippi, Monroe, Newton, Poinsett, Pope, Prairie, Randolph, Searcy, Sebastian, Scott, Sharp, St. Francis, Stone, Van Buren, Washington, White, Woodruff, and Yell.
The proclamation will support the effort to obtain assistance from the federal government for farmers who suffered crop damage from the unseasonable freeze.
