Boozman: "Dog" Should Remain Free

By: Jennifer Griggy
Updated: April 25, 2007
(Washington, D.C.) U.S. Representative John Boozman (R-AR) today announced his support of the efforts to keep Duane "Dog" Chapman in the United States, adding his name to a letter calling on the Mexican government to dismiss charges against Chapman, his son Leland, and Tim Chapman. The Chapmans, stars of the cable television show "DOG" The Bounty Hunter, captured Max Factor heir Andrew Luster, a member of the FBI "Most Wanted" list, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, in June 2003. Luster, who had been living under a false identity, had been convicted in absentia by a California court on 86 counts of rape, drug and weapons charges. The Mexican government has charged the Chapmans with "deprivation of liberty," which can carry a jail sentence of up to four years. In February, Mexican courts denied an appeal and cleared the way for the Chapmans to be extradited to Mexico. (Copyright 2007 Newsroom Solutions, LLC)
