Dow Jones Average Breaks Record

By: Lisa Brence
Updated: April 25, 2007
History was made on Wall Street Wednesday morning, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average hit 13,000 for the very first time. The blue chips first broke 12,000 just over six months ago, and it took more than seven years for the Dow to go from 11,000 to 12,000. Stocks have been surging because first quarter earnings reports have been coming in higher than expected.
