In Jackie words,
"Lisa was not able to take me to the doctors or help me around the house. She was not able to pick up any of my slack through my illness. She was three at the time"
Jackie says her daughter Lisa, was her hope.
"I was a single mother and what Lisa did was give me the reason for fighting as aggressively as possible . The reason to live."
At three years old Lisa probably didn't understand how much she helped her mother. Lisa says it was very scary.
Now,Lisa is ten and it's easy to see she still inspires her mother...Especially as her mother looks back at the darkest of times.
Jackie continued in her letter,
"She didn't care that I was bald, or had a breast missing. Only, that I was there to play with her and love her. There is no better reason to survive than that"
Jackie and Lisa participate in The Komen Ozark Race For The Cure. Jackie says it's a day they both reflect on how far they've come and a day they both hope for the best for others headed down a similar road.
