Some streets in Fayetteville are causing confusion. Now police and fire departments are asking for permanent changes. Some areas of Washington County were annexed into Fayetteville city limits and now some of the street names are duplicated There are six street names that are duplicated. Here are the proposed name changes: Zion Dr to Columbia Dr., Harmon South and Harmon Rd. to 85th Avenue, W Hill Side Dr. to Stonehenge, W Hwy16 to W Wedington Dr., E Overlook Pl to E Canyon Ct., Timber Ridge Ln to N Riding Ridge, and Edwards Rd To Athens Rd There is also a difference in addresses from city to county. In the county there is a five digit street numbering system compared to the cities, four. Fayetteville dispatch told us this is a safety concern. Calvin Bey lives in Forest Hills, one of the affected subdivisions. Bey told us he understands why street names would need to change because of duplication, but not address changes. Police Chief Greg Tabor understands some residents dont want the change, but said its a necessity.
