MySpace is one of the most popular websites in the United States. Its actually enticing some politicians to take advantage of it to plug their views. MySpace gets over 200,000 new registrations each day. With this type of exposure political candidates are usuing it as a tool to reach out to voters. MySpace is definitely not a new phenomenan, but its no longer just an avenue to catch up with old friends or even start a romantic relationship. Its become a forum for political candidates to pitch their views and campaign. Take presidential candidate Barack Obamas MySpace page. Hes got personal photos, speeches and even a NY Times article featuring his views on foreign policy. But, prior to this MySpace page, Obama had another page managed by one of his supporter for two and a half years. Obamas MySpace account recruited well over 100 thousand friends. Recently, Obamas presidential campaign realized the value of his myspace page and decided to take control over it themselves. However this came at a price. They had to start from scratch and relinquish all those friends on his myspace account, since someone else managed it. So as it sits today, Obama has slightly over 20 thousand friends. Politicians arent the only ones utilizing this enormous media tool. So are actors. John Krasinski, from The Office, actually blogs about the weekly episodes and whether he likes it or not. He even asks his MySpace friends to comment about the episodes. So while MySpace is fun to keep up with friends, its also proving to be much more than just a social network.
