Thursday in California, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee and nine other republican presidential candidates participated in the GOP's first debate of the year. NBC News political analyst and senior editor of Newsweek, Jonathan Alter, rated Huckabee's performance on KNWA Friday at five o'clock. Alter said Huckabee faired well against the other candidates ,but did not get the break he needed. Alter also added that Huckabee may have hurt himself during the evolution discussion but that it is still way too early to make a determination about his chances of earning a party nomination.
