On our final stop in KNWA’s investigation into the reason for high gas prices in Northwest Arkansas, we stopped in West Memphis to visit the headquarters of Flash Market Oil. In an unprecedented move, the company had no problem appearing on camera to explain to us their reasoning for current fuel prices in our area.
We met with the vice president of the company who told us many of the same answers we’d already heard, but again, he actually did it on camera. Even though he gave us some familiar answers, he was able to confirm for us something we’ve been hearing for a while now. He told us the Razorback Pipeline Terminal in Rogers does charge more to store fuel for companies than other storage terminals in the state and that that does indeed raise the rice of gasoline in our area.
We left West Memphis with many of the same questions we had when we got there and found out that on Friday the price of wholesale gas in the state will go up eleven cents. Meaning the problem of high gas prices in our area will, at least for now, continue.
