We went out again to the White Oak Station at the corner of Mission and Crossover in Fayetteville where for the past few days we've been trying to get answers to their high gas prices, so far the only thing they've told us is to leave. This station had some of the highest prices in the state yesterday-- at $3.46 a gallon, interestingly though, they lowered their price seven-cents this morning, from $3.46 to $3.39. However there were a few places in our area today where you could get gas for under the three-dollar mark, thanks to a local church. Members of Vintage Fellowship did something most of us in Northwest Arkansas can only dream about-- they lowered gas prices. It only lasted two hours-- from nine to eleven this morning-- but people waited in line for the reduced price fuel. The church worked out a deal with Dandy Oil to lower their prices at two of their gas stations from $3.46 to $2.99.-- that's a price slash of 47-cents. Not only did the church members manage to lower prices-- they also pumped the gas and washed windshields. "We're trying to be a church that cares ab where people are at, that are making a difference in peoples lives, so we can do this little thing and let em know that we're here to help," said Pastor Robb Ryerse. "We had lines waiting when we got here and it's been real steady all day. At the other station we're at it's the same way. I talked to some of the folks over there and they described it as being like a parking lot, so I think people are pretty excited." "Northwest Arkansas is the most expensive place in our whole state right now, and unless you go somewhere else to get gas, this is a good price, it's a good deal," said Sylvia Scott, who stopped to fill up. "I think it's great because they're letting people know about a new church in town and pumping your gas and washing your windshield, it's awesome!" The Valero at the intersection of Crossover and Zion and the Phillips 66 at the corner of 412 in Springdale participated in today's two-hour price slash. As for the White Oak gas station at the corner of Mission and Crossover, yesterday we gave the manager a number where the person who sets the prices can contact us at, but so far we've had no calls.
