Fayetteville Animal Services wants to keep your animals safe.  Today they were on the Fayetteville square  holding a rabies and microchipping clinic.   Jill Hatfield tells us "one in three animals who are lost, are not found.  microchipping helps us get your animal back home to you."

If you are interested in your pet being spayed, neutered, immunized, or microchipped, the group is going to be all over Northwest Arkansas into October.

The cost of the vaccination is $7. The permanent identification microchip cost is $20 per animal and although not mandatory, will help any lost animal get back to it's owner. All shelters and vet clinics scan found animals for a microchip. Animal Services will also be selling city license tags. The city identification tag affords lost animals a free ride home instead of being impounded into the shelter. The cost is $5 for dogs and cats that are spay/neutered and $15 for dogs and cats that are intact. After November 1, 2007, the city license fee for intact dogs and cats will be $75.

Animal Services will continue the clinics on the third Saturday of each month until October 20. The June 16 clinic will be held in Walker Park at the picnic pavilion by the basketball courts.
