High gas prices could affect sales taxes in Arkansas. Lawmakers say people will continue to buy gas, but may start spending less on non-essentials, like going to movies or buying new clothes. They say gas prices could affect tourism as well. This is important because the state sales tax generates about two billion dollars annually.
