Troop Train Ride On Monday

The Arkansas and Missouri Railroad Passenger Train will host a special Memorial Day Troop Train experience on Monday, May 28 from Springdale to Chester. Active military, retired and U.S. Veterans ride free on this special Memorial Day event. The train departs from the A&M Springdale Depot at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, May 29 for Chester with a full load of more than 225 passengers. The next stop will be the Chester grave site decoration by A&M Conductors at approximately 9:45 a.m. The riders will be welcomed at the Ozark Military Museum, adjacent to the Arkansas Air Museum at Drake Field at approximately 11:00 a.m. and participants will be able to view the displays of vehicles and aircraft. Farmington band members will perform. Lunch will follow at approximately 12:00 p.m. at the Museum location. Sponsors for the noon meal are: Tyson Foods, First Security, Marvins IGA, Catfish Johns, and Crossroads. Guests will leave for Springdale at approximately 1:00 p.m. "The purpose of this special ride is to honor all U.S. active military and Veterans on Memorial Day, "states Passenger Train Operations Manager, Brenda Brown. "Part of the proceeds from the tickets purchased for the ride will go to the Ozark Military Museum and the Farmington Band for band uniforms, but our Veterans and active military will be able to enjoy the ride and lunch at no charge. We are proud to have the honor of participating in the Memorial Day experience with this special Troop Train Ride on the A&M."
