Former Van Buren Mayor Dies

Former Mayor John Riggs died Sunday at his home in Van Buren. He was surrounded by family and friends. Riggs served as the Mayor of Van Buren for over eleven years. During his last few years in office, Riggs fought Lou Gehrigs Disease. Funeral arrangements have been made through Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren. The funeral will be at the First Baptist Church in Van Buren, Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. The public is welcome to attend the service for Mayor Riggs. Memorials can be made to A.L.S., Peachtree Hospice or the Boys and Girls Club of Van Buren.
