Fort Smith Students Save Up For Statue

Some local students are emptying their piggy banks for a good cause. Cook Elementary is kicking off a fundraiser to help build a Bass Reeves Memorial Statue at Pendergraft Park in Fort Smith. Reeves was a Van Buren slave who became a U.S. Deputy Marshal. The statue should be built by next year.
