A local deputy sheriff has been fired for giving contraband to jail inmates.
Prosecutors filed charges against former Deputy Sheriff Adam Colby Jordan Tuesday for smuggling tobacco, cell phones and pills to inmates in exchange for money. Jordan told investigators he was threatened by inmates and feared for his life and his family.
Captain Mike Conger says this case is actually not that uncommon.
"Its not the first time its happened here, but it doesnt happen all the time," Conger says.
Conger also says Jordan hadnt worked at the jail very long, but was well liked.
Jordan says investigators always believe the inmates over the employees.
Now, Jordan faces felony charges.
"Hes going to pay the price for it, whatever the system brings down on him," Conger says.
If convicted, Jordan could spend up to twenty years in prison, and pay $15,000 in fines.
