Former Delaware County Sheriff Lenden Woodruff is recovering in a Fayetteville hospital after being shot by his wife, Candyce Woodruff at their home Sunday night. She remains behind bars for felony shooting with intent to kill. Lenden Woodruff was flown to Washington Regional Medical Center from their home near Colcord, Oklahoma. Police say Candyce called 9-1-1 to report her husband shot himself. Once police arrived, they found their former boss bleeding from the chest, and determined it was not a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officials are not releasing a motive, but there are reports that police came to the house just hours before the shooting because the two were arguing. Woodruff was sheriff from 2000 - 2004, when he was forced to resign after being arrested for driving under the influence. Photo Courtesy: KOTV-TV
