mashburn2007-06-27-1182981800.JPGFAYETTEVILLE, AR – Circuit Judge Mike Mashburn of Fayetteville announced that effective July 2nd, 2007, he is resigning his position as Circuit Judge for Washington and Madison Counties.  Judge Mashburn’s decision came after suffering a stroke 5 months ago, a decision that will allow him the necessary time he needs to focus on his health.

I am saddened to leave the bench after serving the citizens of Washington and Madison County with such joy these many years, said Judge Mashburn on Wednesday, but I have decided that resignation at this time is the best decision for myself and my entire family. It has been a great pleasure throughout my professional life to work with the members of the Arkansas Bar Association, the Washington County Bar Association, the Madison County Bar Association, all the dedicated employees of the Washington and Madison County Courthouses, the Sheriff Departments in both counties and my many great friends in the legal profession.  I would also like to thank the members of my community and the citizens of Washington and Madison Counties who have offered me support and prayers over the last few months.Mashburn concluded his announcement by saying, I will, even in retirement, continue to support our bar association and hope to be able to make ongoing contributions to the legal profession.
