Strong accusations from a former humane society employee. The man claims a local shelter is using tax dollars to kill animals, not to find them homes.
Right now the Sebastian County Humane Society is full of animals, but former employee Jordan Romano says the society isnt doing everything it can to find the animals loving families. Romano says the Humane Society should use tax dollars and donations to find homes for the animals but instead, he says the animals are having to be put down.
Romano says several cats are being held in the back of the shelter, instead of in the front where people can adopt them.
"They dont have any of [the cages] filled up, and probably right now they have two to three hundred cats or kittens that could go up there," he says.
But the Humane Society says its doing the best it can with so many animals. Employee Jakie Spence says the shelter is even offering dog adoptions at a reduced rate so they can find a home. Spence also says the Humane Society is working as fast as it can to spay and neuter the animals, so they can be adopted.
Spence says the Sebastian County Humane Society has a high adoption rate. As for Romano, he says he just wants to see the Humane Society do whats best for the animals.
