tornado2007-07-05-1183651870.jpgGovernor Mike Beebe has set aside $250,000 from the Governor’s Emergency Fund to provide financial assistance for Delta Memorial Hospital in Dumas. Beebe presented the check to hospital officials this morning.
"After tornadoes struck Desha County in February, I said that Arkansans would take care of our own," Beebe stated. "The folks at Delta Memorial have been taking care of storm victims for more than four months, oftentimes without compensation. We want to ensure that they can continue providing these vital health-care services in the future."
Officials at Delta Memorial expect to provide a significant level of uncompensated care over the next year, including primary care, obstetrics and numerous inpatient and outpatient services.
Governor Beebe has previously released $560,000 from the Governor’s Disaster Fund to assist victims of the February tornadoes in Desha, Drew, Union and Bradley Counties. The U.S. Small Business Administration also provided low-interest loans for homeowners and businesses working to rebuild.
