A new power plant in Tontitown is reportedly online and expected to help out this summer. Southwestern Electric Power began working on the 131-million-dollar project in December after drought conditions forced the hydroelectric generator at Beaver Lake to reduce output during peak consumption times. The Harry D. Mattison plant will especially help larger businesses that were asked to conserve power last year.
