breaking news
Biking for his boy, a Florida father goes cross country on his bicycle. Glenn Fenster left Anchorage, Alaska, on May first, bound and determined to pedal his way back to Florida. Thousands of miles later, he made it, all to raise awareness and money for his 13-year-old son Nile, who was diagnosed with epilepsy when he was just two years old. Glenn says he drew his inspiration from his son.
"He said to me that theres nothing a Fenster cant do," Glenn says.
And more than 6,000 miles in 66 days later outside the Starbucks on 191st Street and Biscayne Boulevard in Aventura, applause rang out for Glenn Fenster, who says hes now half the man physically, and twice the man, spiritually, a father on a grueling mission with a message.
"For every child with epilepsy, or any disability, to pursue your dreams, conquer your goals, never give up. Each day offers life another opportunity to achieve the impossible," Fenster says.
Friend Philip Benjamin tracked the trip on Fensters Web site, Destiny Maker.org.
"Ive been reading his blogs every night, and I see its been a successful trip.. Hes a great guy," Benjamin says of his friend.
Fenster hopes to continue his work on increasing the knowledge of epilepsy, but instead of cycling, he says hell be speaking to school and community groups.
