The Springdale School District has big plans for students-- hoping to unveil two new elementary schools in late August. But with one rainy day after another, construction isn't moving as quickly as planned. "We have streets being built and parking lots being built and it will affect those and does delay that process, so yeah there will be some delays over the rain," says Assistant Superintendent for Special Services Ronnie Bradshaw. Bradshaw says Springdale's shrinking workforce has also contributed to the delays. As the housing market slows, he says many families have moved to find construction work elsewhere. While crews tie up loose ends, the only delay Bradshaw predicts is teachers getting into their classrooms a little later than normal. "Those things are concerns and until they're done. You have some worries but we're confident from talking to the contractors and the people we're working with that we'll be fine." Administrators say if things look like they won't be finished in time they'll come up with a backup plan for the students.
