Gov. Beebe to Help Fund Benton Co. Project

gov.beebe2007-07-13-1184345917.jpgGovernor Mike Beebe today approved the release of more than $1.7 million from his Hazard Mitigation Fund to provide matching funds for infrastructure projects in nine Arkansas counties and to reimburse Arkansans who qualify for the Arkansas Safe Shelter Program.
  The Safe Shelter Program, administered by the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management, issues rebates of up to $1,000 to homeowners who build safe rooms or in-ground shelters on their property. Information about the program may be found here. Governor Beebe released $1,250,000 to fund the program for the next twelve months.
  The hazard-mitigation disbursements include the following, all of which are the state portions of fund-matching projects:
$32,500 to Arkansas County to replace a bridge.
$75,000 to Benton County to replace a low-water slab.
$34,049 to Calhoun County to replace a bridge.
$51,681 to Clark County to replace a bridge.
$17,500 to Faulkner County to replace a bridge.
$31,625 to Hempstead County to replace culverts.
$55,000 to Howard County to replace a bridge.
$75,000 to Pike County to replace a low-water crossing.
$75,000 to Sebastian County to replace a bridge.
$22,065 to ADEM for the Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grant Program.
