Twenty-one-year-old Alvin McCullough escaped from the Washington County Jail just after one o'clock this morning. According to police, McCullough may have escaped by presenting himself as a detention officer through an intercom, however, police are still investigating his escape. Fayetteville police say after chasing McCullough on foot and with K9 units, authorities caught him on Highway 71 A about an hour after he escaped. When found, McCullough was naked, after shedding his clothes and shoes, and leaving behind a shank he made in the jail.
McCullough was in the Washington County Jail facing several charges including burglary, kidnapping, robbery, and aggravated assault. He had recently received a 47-year sentence for his crimes -- to be served with the Arkansas Department of Correction.
McCullough now faces an additional charge of 2nd degree escape. We'll have more on this story tonight at 5, 6 and 10.
