As summer comes to an end, families are expected to spend an average of 560 dollars on back-to-school supplies, but one local company wants to lower the cost. Wal-Mart is offering up to a 50 percent discount on some school supplies. Shoppers can get glue and crayons for just 20 cents. Notebooks are 10 cents a piece. Wal-Mart is also selling back packs for five dollars. The sale will continue until school starts. Company officials said they’re discounting the items to help families save money.
