Alltel has scheduled a special shareholders meeting next month to vote on the proposed purchase of Alltel by TPG Capital and GS Capital Partners. The meeting is set for August 29. The meeting will be held at noon at Alltel Arena in North Little Rock. Shareholders of record as of the close of business on the record date of July 23, 2007, will be entitled to vote at the meeting. Alltel has filed a proxy statement in connection with the proposed purchase with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company's second quarter earnings will be released August 1.
