Springdale is no stranger to graffiti. Police cracked down on the problem a few months ago when the number of incidents soared.
In January there were 25 reported incidents, by March it had jumped to 176 incidents. This is when Springdale police started aggressively tackling the problem. Police made several arrests and judges were giving maximum sentences upon convictions. This sent a message out to the community, and now with only a few days left in July the numbers are back down.
The Northwest Arkansas Hispanic Council wanted to help clean up the problem. The group is cleaning up graffiti all over Springdale for free. Other businesses in Springdale have stepped forward to donate paint, paint bushes and graffiti removal cleaner.
