The whole thing was an accident, according to police. Noble, Oklahoma, police responded to a call about a snake in someones yard. When officers tried to shoot the snake, they hit five-year-old Austin Haley instead. The boy was fishing with his grandfather in a nearby pond. The officer who fired the shot has been put on paid leave pending an investigation.
Noble is about 25 miles south of Oklahoma City.
