As students and parents alike prepare for the beginning of the school year....teachers are having to do a little extra preparing because new guidelines changed the way Arkansas history will be taught. Woodland Jr. High Principal Dr. Anita Lawson, says some critics worry that reducing the subject from a full semester to something thats simply integrated with other history subjects is the wrong move for the state to make. Lawson points out the new guidelines will be tough to follow, and though arkansas history must be taught, schools around the state are having trouble finding a way to teach it. According to a statement released by Governor Mike Beebe on Wednesday, the new frameworks will have to work because he says, while he acknowledges residents concerns about the new school frameworks, its also too late in the year to delay the implementation of those frameworks.
