graffiti2007-08-09-1186697254.jpgLate Tuesday night Pastor Dexter Howard and his wife stopped by their church and found vandals left their mark behind on the building. In bright green paint, the vandals spray painted obscenities, including a racial slur, and symbols investigators say resemble swastikas on the outside of the Life Harvester Church. The vandals also sprayed graffiti on a church van, broke the antenna and slashed all four tires. "I was a little bit taken aback. I was very surprised to say the least. I'm wondering where did this come from, who did we upset, who did we make mad?," says Howard. The church has welcomed congregations in south Fayetteville for almost nine years, and Howard says it's never been hit with graffiti before. Luckily, a congregation member provided equipment to remove it. But Howard says the cost of fixing the van will total around $1,000. Still, he says he doesn't want revenge and wouldn't even press charges if the vandals are caught. "I think I would probably only ask that they would be made to come to Life Harvester Church and do some community service and maybe attend a couple of Bible studies." If you have any information on this case, contact the Fayetteville Police Department at 587-3555.
