AT&T said it also plans to add 21 new and acquired cell sites across Arkansas this year - adding to the 22 new sites it added in the state last year. The plan calls for expanding coverage to Jonesboro, Paragould, Searcy, Kensett, Batesville, Mountain View, Dumas, Monticello, Russellville and Fayetteville.
The new cell sites will improve coverage along Highways 69 and 122 in Newark and along U.S. Highway 63 in Marked Tree, the company said. AT&T recently launched its 3G service in Little Rock, offering speedier service for laptops along with upgraded video and music services. AT&T said that in the past three years it has spent over 163 million dollars to expand and improve the state's wireless network. It plans to unveil its 3G service in northwest Arkansas in the fall of 2008, the company said.
