trumpet2007-08-10-1186783783.jpgRyan Enis is back doing what he does best. Even with crutches and a cast the Greenland High School Band Director refuses to watch from the sidelines. "The internal injuries have healed really well, I've still got 4-6 more weeks with my foot before I can start the walking process again," he says. A little more than a month ago, Enis and his wife Stephanie were on their way to a wedding in Oklahoma, when the driver of an oncoming car had a heart attack and hit them head on at about 60 miles per hour. Stephanie, who was almost full-term in her pregnancy, suffered fatal injuries. Even though Ryan survived, he says the emotional wounds are hard to heal. "Emotionally and spiritually I'm still struggling everyday. Having great friends and family around helps a lot, but, I've been back home here in Northwest Arkansas for about a week, and you know just walking through the house, you just walk by my daughter's room or just being in mine and Stephanie's room, there's little things that just remind you and depending on the day they can either make you smile or make you cry." For now, Enis says he's taking things one step at a time, and leaning on those around him. "These band parents and these kids have just really lifted me up on their shoulders. Of course just being back into the swing of things, just getting into a little bit of a routine has helped a lot."
