The Benton County Sheriffs Office is receiving several reports of items missing from boats kept at private docks on Beaver lake. The items that were reporter missing was a stereo system, sporting goods, and even an actual pontoon boat.
Beaver lake is somewhere people go, to have fun and cool off in the summer, not to worry about the safety of their belongings or their actual boats. After all, they can only go so many places on a lake.
Bill Pope at the Hickory Creek Marina said "this isnt a new thing that we all here on the lake need to recognize as a problem and be on the lookout for strange activity around docks. Strange happenings or boats that are in a strange place that you know ought not be there"
Pope also said people should take their items out of their boats when leaving.
Washington County Sheriffs office say they are having to watch a little more carefully around the lake.
"Were going to pick up the patrol and keep it very active during the summer and do the best we can do as far as that goes" said Darren Morrow.
The one reported boat theft was later solved when it was found about a mile away hooked up to someone elses dock and as far as the other items, they have not yet been found.
Sheriffs say they do expect to see more thefts as the summer continues.
