Newton County Sheriff Ken Copeland says 3 are dead and several others are hurt after a gunman opened fire in a Neosho, Missouri church. Sheriff Copeland says around 2:00pm the man walked into the First Congregational Church, located just north of the town square, and started shooting. He says the man held about 20 people hostage before a tactical unit entered the building. The sheriff says the team confronted the man, who was holding a gun to a womans head, and after a brief standoff he surrended. The man is now in custody. Deputies are interviewing the gunman and the hostages right now. Neosho police officers are processing the crime scene. Sheriff Copeland says the congregation is made up of pacific islanders from Pompay. He says the shooter was also a pacific islander. The Sheriff says its still unclear why the man did it.
