Four Fort Smith men worked together to Rob Kyle LaRue’s home with a toy rifle. They stole his phone, his wallet, and two of his vehicles. Neighbors say they think sex may be involved
Kyle LaRue lives here at 520 Line Street in Dyer. Friday night LaRue told police four men broke into his home, duct taped him, and demanded his wallet and keys. Police say LaRue knows some of his attackers.
Cindy Jones, a neighbor says, “Mr. LaRue had met a man the day before and he got a call from the man and he asked him to come to Fort Smith to pick him up. And when he did, when got there to pick him up, there was another gentleman with him and unbeknownst to Mr. Larue two other guys had followed ‘em.
One neighbor we spoke to says she thinks LaRue may have picked the men up in Fort Smith for sex. The Crawford County Sheriff’s Department says in 1995, police arrested Larue on a warrant of sexual assault. At the time, he was working as a school teacher in Cedarville.
LaRue’s neighbor says he keeps to himself, but this incident still makes them feel pretty uncomfortable especially since this is the third robbery on this street this year.
Mandi Robins, another neighbor, says “It makes me nervous having a three year old, because when we were broken into, they went into her room, and they only went through one drawer but you still feel uneasy.”
Jones explains, “I hate the fact that we have to lock everything up these days. You can’t just leave your house with the door still open, you have to secure everything and its frightening.”
LaRue freed himself from the duct tape, then went to neighbors for help. He wasn’t hurt and police say they haven’t seen LaRue at his house since the robbery.
