pencils2007-08-23-1187907943.jpgWith a large number of their students learning English, the Springdale School District hopes a new program will help their teachers communicate better in the classroom. The "Teach Them All" program aims to help teachers better instruct English-language-learning students...but this program is a little different than other ESL programs. "Teachers will be able to do it at a pace that fits their lifestyle much better and doesn't take them out of the classroom," says Assistant Principal John Wesson. Instead of using up valuable class time, teachers will learn on their own time for three hours every week. "I think it's great that I'm not having to waste classroom time to do this," says Band Director Russell Robinson. Robinson is one of the fifteen Springdale High School teachers to enroll in the program. In a school where nearly 500 students out of about 1,500 are English-language-learners, he says he's more than willing to use the program. "No matter what you say, if you can't get your point across then you're not really getting them sold into what you're trying to do. Basically you're trying to get them sold into learning," Robinson says.
