A duplex on Cedar Street in Van Buren caught fire on Saturday night. Neighbor Ginger Huffstetler says her boyfriend tried putting out the fire. "He was standing on the deck with the garden hose trying to put the trees out and trying to get the side of the house from getting that hot. Flames were rolling out of the side door. There windows where shattered and he ended up having to come back through and he said it was to hot to stand out there,"said neighbor Ginger Huffstetler. Huffstetler also says the fire spread to their house, melting the siding right off their house. This is not the first or even second time this duplex has caught on fire. "It was really bad about seven years ago when it burned and my two sons and I pulled three people out of it then. Then it caught fire once since then and It caught fire three weeks ago on that side of the duplex and saturday night it was this side of the duplex, which is when it got my house," said neighbor Ginger Huffstetler. Neighbors say a lot of people have been in and out of the duplex but, have no idea why someone would want to burn the duplex down. Assistant Fire Chief, Stanley Clark, says the cause of the fire is still unknown and is being investigated. "Well normally you are not going to have a fire at the same residence that soon, so it always throws up a red flag," said Stanley Clark. The landlord of the duplex said no one was living in the duplex and he had no idea about the last two fires. Van Buren Police say they have made many trips to this duplex for several crime-related reasons.
