lpga2007-09-09-1189392736.jpgMother nature put a stop to an event 3 years in the making. The LPGA Northwest Arkansas Championship ended after just 18 holes. All the maintenance workers and equipment just wasn't enough to keep the course playable. Even though the competition ended 36 holes early, tournament Executive Director Andy Bush isn't disappointed. "From our stand point, it's an event. We had an incredible week, a lot of our sponsors are still buzzing and our volunteers were happy," he says. Even though this first year turned out a little soggy, the tournament will return in 2008 and 2009. And Bush has higher...and drier hopes for next year. "I think Northwest Arkansas will get to see the players in action. You know it took us 37 hours to have a couple groups play 18 holes. I think the fans will get to see the players, the players will get to see the fans." While he considers this year a huge success, Bush says everyone learned a few lessons along the way. "I think there's some things that we're going to do a little bit better logistically, but for the most part we're pretty well set." To make it up to any disappointed fans all 2007 ticket holders will get free tickets for next year.
