Some Roland residents expressed high hopes for Tuesday night’s meeting. One resident, Shirley Dean, says, “I hope that the councilmen will apologize to these policemen who are trying to take care of the community.” Dana Reese asked council member Bill Brooks to resign because he called her stupid at Friday’s meeting. Brooks says he’s sorry, but he will not step down. Brooks explains, "I was elected by 240 people and if I run tomorrow, I believe theyd vote for me again.” Other citizens also expressed disappointment with the council. One resident spoke to the council and said, “I just want you guys to remember that if you cant work with us and work with the town, you can be replaced next election time.” Business in Roland has pretty much returned to normal. As for the police accusations against the council, they say they have turned their investigation over to a lawyer, and they aren’t releasing any new information right now.
